Club 420 Racing
About Club 420 Racing
The C420 Racing Program provides sailors the opportunity to develop teamwork skills while competing at the highest level. Building on the skills learned in other racing classes, 420 sailors work on improving their sail trim and boat speed while working on the best ways to make the boat move in different conditions. Sailors receive on-shore chalk talks in preparation for on-the-water drills to show how to improve technique.
An additional charter fee is required for all sailors to be able to sail as part of the 420 team. Sailors are expected to maintain the SYS equipment as if it were their own with sailors being assigned a boat to maintain to SYS standards and expectations, and return boats in the same condition, minus regular wear and tear, that they received them.
Regattas are outlined within the Parent Handbook and the required regattas are highlighted, with all other regattas being optional. A minimum of five sailors/boats is required for SYS to sponsor the regatta with coach support. Some sailors choose to attend all events, others only choose to attend the required regattas.
All SYS participants and families are required to fulfill 8 volunteer hours, maintain current financial accounts, and adhere to SYS’s Code of Conduct and all Race Team policies and procedures as outlined in the Parent Handbook.
