Jim Zellmer

HEAD MULTIHULL COACH AND HEAD LASER COACH

Jim was born is Southern California where his father inspired him to a life long passion for competitive sailing.  He spent his formative years as crew/helmsman aboard many offshore multihulls and racing sloops, successfully competing in and winning many long distance, IOR, Midwinters and regional events. A successful career in carpentry and fine woodworking including boat building, interior yacht design and construction led to a focus on the art of sailing in both a technical and aesthetic sense.
In the spirit of passing along a rich tradition of a sport that requires self discipline and commitment, Jim has progressed and devoted himself to teaching young sailors the tools they need for success and self evaluation in the analysis of what the sport means to them in their current and future lives. It is Jim’s hope that whether this experience leads to recreational or professional activity that it will be a meaningful and permanent addition to the lives of his students.
